Bowling Birthday

Now that the Kindergarten class lists are set we have to go about doing the hard work of explaining to The Boy why he and his BFF-basically-from-birth won't be in the same classroom next year. These two were born just a few weeks apart and have been in the same daycare class since they were ~4 months old. That means they've seen each other almost EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. for as long as they both can remember. Mommy is having more than a little bit of a hard time coping with the idea that they'll be separated! Everyone keeps reminding me that kiddos are resilient...he'll branch out and make new friends...that they'll still see each other at recess and lunch and PE and t-ball...BUT STILL. I feel like one of my limbs has been cut off. Ok, not really. But almost. I set aside my feelings of panic long enough to celebrate the 5-year-old birthday of the aforementioned BFF. His party was a quiet family affair at the bowling alley. The miniature size 8 bowling shoes were almost too much to handle. I think each kid got at least one (totally assisted) Strike during the 100 or so games we played. It was a great way to celebrate a birthday, as well as the end of summer / beginning of school.
